Favorite Books of 2014

As 2014 comes to a close, I wanted to share some of my favorite books that I have read this year. I am (and always will be) a huge book nerd, like the kind that's all emotional when the final book ends because I feel like my life is over. I've read several book series this year as well as some singles that I have truly enjoyed! Beware- several young adult novels- sometimes they are the best! Haha

1. The Maze Runner series- This series caught my eye after I saw the movie trailer and saw cutie Dylan O'Brien playing the lead role. I went out and bought the book, and started to read it. Next thing I know, it is 3am and I have finished the book. I always make sure to stop at the end of a chapter when I read, but that was impossible with this book because there were cliffhangers at the end of every. single. chapter. Overall, the series takes some crazy turns, and though I was not happy with the ending, the first book still holds a special place in my heart.

2. Divergent series- I picked up a copy of Divergent after, once again, seeing a movie preview for the book. I never read the Hunger Games series, but I hear they are kind of similar. I was hooked within the first few chapters. I loved that there was action mixed with the perfect blend of romance.

3. Gone Girl- If anything, this book makes me fear marrying a crazy person that is capable of everything Amy Dunne did. I loved the suspense throughout the book because you never knew what was going to come next. I also loved how it was told in the points of view of both the husband and the wife.

4. The Fault in our Stars- This book is such a sappy young adult novel that will have you happy one minute and crying the next. I love a good story about young love and this was a great one. FYI the movie is nowhere near as good as the book ;)

5. Delirium- I read this book based on a recommendation from Amazon after I finished Divergent. It dealt with similar topics such as a highly controlled society. But unlike anything else I read, the characters were forbidden from love because it was thought of as a disease. There are a lot of interesting twists in this book as well because the main character finds herself in love with a boy, shocker. This is the first book in a series but I have not had a chance to read the second or third yet.

I am always looking for new book recommendations so feel free to send them my way :)
