Before and After Home Tour Part 1: Kitchen

Yesterday I mentioned that I had bought a townhouse and done some minor renovations. During my home search, I fell in love with the second house I saw, but what I did not love was the colors throughout. I love neutral colors, so imagine my surprise when I walked in to see mint green walls!

Luckily, the house itself was in great shape, but I quickly began a list of things to change as soon as I got the keys:
1. Paint living room, half bath, kitchen, and master bedroom
2. Redo half bath floor
3. Redo all carpeted areas

Working full time made it hard to do anything during the week, but over the course of a month, my weekends were filled with painting and flooring. I am very blessed to have handy men in my life who were able to do my flooring for free.

Let's start with the kitchen-

Out of all five houses I looked at, this house had the best kitchen and dining area in terms of size and layout. I absolutely loved the wood floors in the dining and living room areas, and I wanted to get them for the kitchen area, too. Long story short, these particular floors were discontinued literally a month before I tried to order them. I was super bummed and at a total loss for what I would do for flooring in the kitchen. My dad mentioned looking at stick on vinyl at Lowe's because it is cheap and easy to install. I fell in love with a pattern in the store. I will link it on here, but it looks nothing like it does in person. All the more reason to make sure you check things out in the store after you find them online.

I also had a difficult time choosing a paint color to cover up these awful colors. Who knew there were actually a million shades of gray?! I ultimately chose the lightest shade because the lighting in this room was pretty dark, so it needed all the help it could get!

Three walls were painted mint and one wall was painted yellow.

Here is what the kitchen looked like when I bought the house:

The fridge that came with the house was too big for its designated spot. What a waste of empty space!

This is the dining area with the accent wall and terrible light.

Annnndddd here are the changes I made-

New dining area light fixture and completed dining area.

Dining Set (no longer available so here is a similar one)

Light Fixture

Paint Valspar Comet Dust

Floors- discontinued

New fridge that actually fits and finished kitchen floors.

Stay tuned for part two coming up tomorrow!
