My bed and mattress were given to me by my grandma because she was getting a bigger bed for her extra bedroom. I was really excited for this because this is the bed I always slept in at her house, and it is super comfy! I bought my night stand new from Big Lots only because I could not find one I liked in a thrift store, or one that had enough potential for me to DIY it and make it cute. I got my desk for $6 at a local thrift store. I gave it a fresh coat of white paint, and Mod Podged the top with some scrapbook paper to make it match my room. The desk chair also came from my grandma. It was black before so I painted it to match my desk. I got my dresser (that came with the mirror) at a thrift store for $50. It was originally tan with awful-looking drawer handles, so I painted it white and changed up the handles. I also painted a yellow strip on my mirror to make it match my room. This was inspired by this pin from Pinterest below.
As far as living room furniture, everything was also either given to us or thrift shopped for. I definitely suggest checking out what your local thrift shops have before spending way more on something brand new but cheaply made. If you are going to splurge on anything, let it be stuff for your kitchen. A nice set of pots and pans will last you probably until you get married, and are ready for something new. I also recommend buying dishes, cups, and silverware new- just because I like everything to match. I would also buy your kitchen utensils new because they are fairly cheap.
On an unrelated note, we got hit with another round of snow this weekend that brought an additional five inches. Luckily, it is about 40 degrees today, so a good portion should melt today!
Have a great Sunday!
